This document summarizes security principles that should be considered when designing and procuring control systems products and services, including software, systems, maintenance, and networks. By providing example language to incorporate into procurement specifications, it aims to reduce control systems security risk. Spearheaded by the Department of Homeland Security, the language was developed through collaboration with leading control system security experts, purchasers, integrators, and technology providers and vendors across several industry sectors.
The magazine's issue on U.S. critical infrastructure security included an interview with the Department of Energy's Hank Kenchington, program manager of the National SCADA Test Bed Program. It focuses on the Roadmap to Secure Control Systems in the Energy Sector (PDF 2.2 MB), the Roadmap's 10-year vision for security, and early progress toward Roadmap goals–including ieRoadmap efforts.
