Federal Energy Management
The federal government is the single largest energy consumer in the United States (and the world, when including the overseas operations of the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Department of State). The government operates over 500,000 residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, transportation, and institutional facilities at 8,000 sites nationwide. The federal transportation fleet includes passenger and security motor vehicles, off-road vehicles, aircraft, and military combat vehicles. Increasingly, the federal government procures renewable power to operate its vast and diverse building and site inventory.
Since 1989, Energetics has provided critical support to the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP), which coordinates efforts to reduce the federal government’s energy intensity and water consumption, increase procurement of renewable power, reduce the use of petroleum products, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Energetics provides ongoing and quick-response support for all key program activities, ensuring strong working relationships with federal customers government-wide, national laboratories, and industry stakeholders involved in federal energy management projects. We support the management team’s aggressive customer service program, which is designed to advance energy management at the site and facility level. Energetics has assembled a team of experts in the fields of policy analysis, program planning, third-party financing, procurement and compliance, interagency coordination, and training and communications. Our support helps to raise FEMP’s customer service profile among federal customers and industry stakeholders, contributes to consensus building through interagency coordination, and supports partnership development with industry stakeholders.
