Transportation
The U.S. transportation sector is currently almost totally dependent on liquid petroleum fuels. There is a critical need for more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly advanced technologies for highway vehicles (cars and trucks). These technologies will reduce our dependence on oil and emissions of climate change gases and criteria pollutants.
Energetics provides technical and program management support to government and industry partnerships that are developing technologies that could dramatically improve energy efficiency and/or displace oil. These technologies include hybrid-electric systems; advanced combustion engines; petroleum, non-petroleum, and renewable fuels; and advanced materials that will enable these technologies.
