Pandemic Planning
In contrast to seasonal influenza, 'pandemic influenza' is a novel virus to which humans have no prior immunity. In the event of a pandemic, a lack of time, infrastructure, and available treatments such as vaccines could drastically inhibit the international community's ability to react, potentially resulting in a substantial loss of lives worldwide. Without adequate planning and appropriate response, pandemic influenza may place great strain on all sectors by significantly reducing the availability of personnel, supplies, and essential services crucial to public health and welfare.
Energetics engages decision makers, owners and operators of essential infrastructure, and community members through collaborative workshops and educational briefings on pandemic planning and preparedness. We have worked closely with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to organize and facilitate public-private workshops for sharing insights on mitigating the spread of pandemic influenza and ensuring the continuity of essential services and infrastructure functions. Related to these efforts, and for our own employees, we have developed interesting and timely outreach and educational materials to support community awareness of appropriate pandemic response.
