Measurement and Standards

Measurements have a role in every aspect of technological innovation. They provide the fundamental tools for basic research, aid in the development and testing of emerging technologies, and assure the quality and performance of new products. Measurements also provide the basis for codes and standards across a range of technologies from nuclear power plants to medical devices.

Energetics’ efforts in this area include analysis of measurement issues, measurement technology assessment, code enforcement monitoring, gap analysis and prioritization of standardization needs for new technology, and support for certification. We work with key stakeholders involved with measurements and standards, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology, standards development organizations (e.g., Electric Power Research Institute and American National Standards Institute) trade associations, and research institutes exploring new measurement tools.
