The Department of Energy (DOE)’s Office of Nuclear Energy will hold a workshop for universities on August 19-20, 2008, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel in Maryland. The workshop will provide U.S. universities the opportunity to understand the new Nuclear Energy University Program for FY2009 and become familiar with the current research and development (R&D) work of the various programs of the Office of Nuclear Energy.
Round table discussions will provide ample opportunity for questions and constructive dialogue on the research requirements for the Generation IV Nuclear Energy Systems Initiative, the Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative, the Nuclear Hydrogen Initiative, and the LWR Materials Aging and Degradation and Plutonium-238 Production programs.
Workshop Attendance: Attendees should pre-register for the workshop by August 11, 2008 to assist DOE in planning for seating and other arrangements. There is a maximum attendance of 225 participants, thus the first registered 225 participants will be included on a first come first serve basis. In addition, pre-registration will facilitate the gathering of contact information on the attendees for dissemination of future program-related information.
