The U.S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) presented Energetics Vice President Leslie Nicholls with a Director’s Award during its 2015 Federal Energy and Water Management Awards ceremony on October 14. The Vice President of Energetics’ Building Energy Solutions (BES) division, Ms. Nicholls received the award in recognition of her leadership in helping FEMP design and implement the highly successful 2015 Energy Exchange conference held in August.

This is a truly historic achievement. FEMP has only presented this award on two other occasions since 2001, and Ms. Nicholls is the first non-federal-government recipient.

Before assisting with the 2015 Energy Exchange, Ms. Nicholls supported FEMP on many other very successful, high-profile activities. She served as the Executive Director of GovEnergy, an energy training workshop and tradeshow sponsored by multiple Federal agencies, for 10 years through 2012. She also served as a strategic member of FEMP’s Utility Program team; served as the Federal Utility Program Working Group Coordinator and Partnership Outreach Manager; and provided direct technical assistance, project assessment, and project management support to FEMP’s Operations and Maintenance Program as well as FEMP’s ENABLE Pilot Program development and implementation.

Ms. Nicholls is an expert in project management, contract management, and strategic planning with more than 25 years of experience supporting private industry clients and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) programs. She leads efforts focused on program development, strategic planning, technical meeting/working group content development, public-private partnership building, training and facilitation, and business analysis, for clients that include FEMP, the DOE Building Technologies Office, and the DOE Office of Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs.
