Life-Cycle Analysis
Life-cycle analysis calculates the energy and environmental impacts of an energy source or product from cradle to grave. It considers the use of energy, water, and other natural resources through the technology life cycle; emissions of pollutants to air, land, and water; and recycling and reuse of industrial materials such as plastics, steel, or paper. Such analyses are important tools that can help compare energy alternatives and support planning to meet emissions and environmental impact reduction goals.
Energetics has the technical capabilities needed to develop and interpret detailed life-cycle analyses and models of energy alternatives. We have developed strategies, conducted numerous life-cycle analyses, and aided life-cycle assessment standards-making working groups. Our staff performs life-cycle analyses credibly, transparently, and in a manner that can be repeated to both foster confidence in the results and stimulate private-sector investment in technologies, systems, and plants that support cleaner power generation and fuels production.
