The U.S. Department of Energy's National Transmission Grid Study contains 51 specific recommendations to improve reliability and reduce electricity costs to consumers - identifying national interest transmission bottlenecks is one of those recommendations.
Energetics assisted the U.S. Department of Energy in hosting a public workshop on the designation of such bottlenecks. Energetics moderated the town-meeting-style workshop and authored a summary document. This document captures the major issues associated with the designation of national interest transmission bottlenecks and describes how stakeholders believe the process should be designed to maximize its benefits to the users of the grid and to electricity consumers.
Energetics moderated a town-meeting-style workshop to identify national interest transmission bottlenecks, which could jeopardize national security, cause widespread harm to the grid, and/or create significantly higher costs to consumers.
