Energetics modeled the energy and environmental benefits of 70 industrial technologies through 2060 for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) and developed a report describing the methodology and results.
Client Need
The Industrial Technologies Program needed to estimate the future benefits of its program for use in planning and budget defense to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Congress.
Solution
Energetics developed a spreadsheet model that uses new and current technology performance and market estimates to estimate the energy and carbon benefits of a new technology. We ran the model for 70 individual technologies across ITP’s research and development portfolio and summarized the methodology and results in a report.
Results
ITP used the results for internal planning, as inputs into integrated energy models for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, and for budget defense to OMB and Congress.
