The goal of the Association for Strategic Planning is to help people and organizations improve their strategic thinking and planning capabilities. Implementing collaborative plans is particularly challenging and often requires coordination among a variety of organizations working toward a common goal. However, most collaborative planning practices and tools are not very mature compared to those used within distinct organizations employing established processes directed by top-down leadership. Energetics has developed effective collaborative processes and has been internationally recognized for its expertise in collaborative planning approaches for public and private sector clients.

In addition to supplying key collaborative planning processes, Energetics employees also reviewed key concepts, identified effective and ineffective techniques and methods, and provided direction for focusing on the end game to ensure strong buy-in and implementation. The case studies—one for global health, one for cyber security, and one for climate change—showed how Energetics uses roadmapping techniques to effectively align interests within diverse communities and build partnerships to achieve shared goals and visions.

Energetics employees Jack Eisenhauer and Ross Brindle were featured speakers at the Association for Strategic Planning's 2009–2010 season kick-off event for the National Capital Area Chapter on September 17, 2009. Their presentation emphasized the need for businesses and governments to leverage the insight of key leaders, the knowledge of subject matter experts, and the concerns of affected stakeholders as they tackle increasingly complex issues.
