Energetics partnered with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) to rethink its strategy and approach to addressing critical energy challenges facing the nation and the world.
Client Need
The ASME Board of Governors identified energy as one of three strategic priorities for the Society, along with workforce development and globalization. With more than one-third of its technical expertise dedicated to energy-related programs, products, and activities, ASME already serves a vital role in ensuring an efficient, sustainable, and secure energy sector. However, ASME’s overall approach and strategy for addressing energy was not yet defined.
Solution
Energetics worked closely with ASME to develop a roadmapping process that would allow the Society to engage its diverse membership in the creation of an energy strategy. The centerpiece of this effort was a roadmap workshop, facilitated by Energetics, which convened more than 60 subject-matter experts from government, academia, and industry. We used these results to create ASME's strategic approach to the energy grand challenge, captured in the roadmap.
Results
The roadmap identifies priorities and top opportunities for ASME to make important contributions to energy challenges. Energetics is now working with ASME to implement the nine priorities highlighted in the roadmap.
