For over 15 years, Energetics has annually refined and validated its Superconductivity Program peer review process. It has become the model for peer reviews conducted by many U.S. Department of Energy programs. Managers who have adopted our process have found it to be robust and effective in identifying both strong and weak project activities.
Energetics coordinated the peer review of superconductivity projects at six national laboratories and several universities, handling both the logistical issues and the analytical process - from site arrangement and time management to setting the review criteria; organizing the review panels; and preparing the agenda, project summaries, and the reviewer workbooks. We also prepared a results book that is a key management tool for planning next year's activities and budgets.
The accelerated pace of technical achievements in the Superconductivity Program has been attributed to the competition, communication, and cooperation that results from Energetics' effective peer review process.
