Energetics played an integral role in the creation, management, production, and release of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) groundbreaking report, 20% Wind Energy by 2030: Increasing Wind Energy's Contribution to U.S. Electricity Supply.
Under subcontract with the National Renewable Energy Lab and in partnership with DOE, Energetics helped create a comprehensive document outlining the importance, opportunities, challenges, and needs of advancing wind as a significant energy source for the United States by 2030. This document needed to be accessible to a variety of readers and while still containing the necessary technical information.
Energetics served as the team co-manager of the 20% Wind Energy by 2030 Report, facilitating seven teams with over 90 authors; holding various stakeholder workshops; and coordinating document research, development, and production. In addition, Energetics served as one of the lead authors for the environmental chapter and executive summary.
In May 2008, the Department of Energy’s Wind Program and the American Wind Energy Association held a press conference to announce the release of the report. The 20% Wind Energy by 2030 Report now serves as the wind industry goal while providing a roadmap for achieving that goal.
