Client Need
The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) sought expert advice on 11 policy options identified in the Maryland Climate Action Implementation Plan. MEA needed to determine the feasibility of the options and appropriate approaches for implementation, and formulate recommendations to achieve climate goals.
Solution
Using our understanding of climate change technology and public policy, we leveraged prior research examining how similar policies have performed in the past. We used this expertise to provide in-depth analysis and recommendations for a range of topics, including biofuels, potential oil shortages, renewable energy incentives, distributed generation, demand-side management, energy efficiency loans, energy efficiency resource standards, and lighting and appliance standards.
Results
Maryland policymakers have independent, expert information that will help inform their decisions about the selection and implementation of policy options that mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in Maryland.
