Energetics organized and facilitated workshops for the chemical and oil & natural gas sectors that allowed stakeholders from across the country to share security measurement experiences and identify a candidate set of sector-level metrics.
Client Need
Companies in the chemical and oil & natural gas sectors have measured the security of their assets for decades. Leaders in both sectors wanted to use this expertise to collaboratively develop sector-level metrics that communicate sector security to investors, the public, and government officials.
Solution
Prior to the workshop, Energetics’ measurement experts teamed with selected sector members to develop a draft set of security metrics. Our facilitators used the metrics to stimulate group discussion during the workshop. Participants proposed and debated additional metrics and identified which metrics best captured the security of the sector.
Results
We prepared a summary workshop report and further refined the metrics by working with metrics working groups. The sectors have used the refined set of security metrics in reports to the Department of Homeland Security.
