Energetics evaluated the potential energy savings in integrated and electric arc furnace-based steelmaking and compared the current energy intensity of making steel with theoretical and practical minimum energy requirements. The bandwidth study summarizes key energy intensity data (the energy used per ton of steel) for ironmaking, steelmaking, and casting/rolling.
