Energetics has co-developed an online compliance certification and management system (CCMS) that permits manufacturers and third-party representatives to electronically submit and track the status of their residential appliance and commercial equipment compliance and certification reports.
Client Need
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Appliances and Commercial Equipment Standards Program is required to collect energy efficiency data via certified mail on certain covered products from manufacturers and/or third-party representatives. Submitting certification reports through certified mail and manually reviewing the reports for completeness and validity is labor-intensive and difficult, and decreases program traceability and accountability.
Solution
In response, Energetics has assisted in the development of the CCMS, an electronic system that will ensure that residential appliance and commercial equipment manufacturers are meeting federal energy efficiency and water standards for residential appliances and commercial equipment. The CCMS incorporates tracking and reporting capabilities that will give the Building Technologies Program improved visibility.
Results
The CCMS process will provide easier sharing of information for manufacturers, as well as transparency, accountability, and increased efficiency in collecting energy efficiency data through compliance and certification reports, thus ensuring that residential appliances and commercial equipment remain within established energy standards. This system will speed data submission and allow for real-time compliance feedback and instant data analysis.
